Barrelhouse jazz pianist Andrew Snowden entertained Covered Bridge Festival-goers on the square in Rockville Sunday. He was there to promote Sunday's silent film festival at the Ritz Theater in Rockville, as well as the Parke Players production of Deadwood Dick, also at the Ritz. Three locals face drug charges

While responding to a complaint of a parked vehicle in front of a business at the Forest Park Plaza at 10 a.m. on Oct. 8, Brazil City Patrolman Todd Stemm found Chad Eric Davis and Paul William Gunzel who seemed to be asleep in their car. Stemm, who was able to view drug-related paraphernalia in plain sight, was assisted by Patrolman Jeff Bucklin and Sheriff's Deputy Jason Frazier in a search of the vehicle during which a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and a plastic bag with methamphetamine were found.. ...

Motorists beware of deer on the move

Early Monday morning, Lucas Burgess of Brazil was traveling to work on State Road 42, when a deer was sighted in his headlights. Burgess tried to slow down, but locked up his brakes. The young doe that stood in the middle of the road was was hit by Burgess' 1999 Ford Ranger. The deer could not be found after the accident, but the damage left behind was evident. Burgess filed a report with the Clay County Sheriff's Department...

Man dies while deer hunting

Investigators have yet to determine a clear cause of death in the case of a Clay County man who died in a weekend hunting accident. Timothy J. Simonton, 42, of Lafayette, Ind. was deer hunting with a family member near the Clay-Parke county line Saturday. The two separated at around 11:30 a.m., Indiana Conservation officer Paul Harden said.
