Advent services to begin

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods have announced a schedule of Advent services as a prelude to the Christmas season. Food Drive!

The Meridian Elementary School Student Council recently sponsored a Thanksgiving Food Drive. The students collected 1,310 non-perishable items for the Clay County Food Pantry. This writer is lucky to be here on this dreary Saturday. Yesterday evening while dusting the objects in my bedroom, an accident temporarily knocked some sense in and out of me. I touched the top of a heavy picture frame. It fell to the floor. The rectangular oak frame that holds a vintage print of a little girl dressed in finery and her St. Bernard struck me on my dizzy dome. It has been years since I felt a smack on my head like that...

Tri-County Home Ec. Club The Tri-County Home Ec. Club met Oct. 11, at the home of Debbie Lawson. Laura Kennedy and Julie Pell served as her co-hostesses. After the food was blessed, a delicious meal was enjoyed by members and one guest, Dede Witty. President Jean Alsip begin the business meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance and the club creed. Florence J. Eveland, 82 Knightsville, died Nov. 22, 2011, at Union Hospital. She was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Putnam County, the daughter of Robert Parrish, Sr. and Mildred Alvord Parrish.
