Cannon carriage undergoing renovations For more than 100 years, residents have always driven east or west on National Road and spotted the two cannons set up on the Clay County Courthouse lawn. But on Wednesday, one of the cannons was taken down. Maintenance workers at the courthouse took money out of their annual budget this year to have the carriage for the 1863 cannon restored.
