As part of Indiana’s Centennial Celebration in 1916 the Daughters of the American Revolution held a contest for the state banner. Paul Hadley from Mooresville had the winning design. It was approved by the Indiana General Assembly in 1917. The torch in the center of the flag stands for liberty and enlightenment and the rays represent their far-reaching influence. ...
