Change in OCRA rules adds step to grant application for new fire station

During a public hearing Monday morning, grant writer Kristy Jerrell told Clay County Commissioners Center Point Volunteer Fire Department completed an income survey only to be told the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) changed the rules and the income survey will have to be repeated before the fire department can complete the application for a half-million dollar grant to build a new fire station...

Brazil Concert Band celebrates 100 years in Forest Park

Director Matthew Huber said it was a large crowd for the first band concert of th season in Forest Park Sunday night. The Brazil Concert Band was beginning its 100 season of concerts in Forest park and its 184th year as a band. The program was “King Cotton,” “Circus Days,” “Second Suite in F”, “Right-Left” (accompanied by shouts from band members), “William Tell Overture” (met with rousing applause and whistles from the audience), “Western Dance,” selections from “The Phantom of the opera,” “The Rose, Shamrock and Thistle” and “Armed Forces Salute” in honor of the 75th anniversary of D-Day on June 6th, 1944.. ...
