North Clay boys basketball splits games

On Wednesday night, a strong Honey Creek squad won a 62-29 decision against North Clay's seventh-grade 'A' team as Joe Ball had 10 points, Jacob Harden added nine and Derek Mills scored four.

In the 'B' game, Honey Creek scored a 42-30 win as Bubby Dickison led the way with 12 points, Skylar Aguilar had five, Nick McCollum and K.J. Thomas each had four points.

On Monday night the eighth-grade boys' basketball teams picked up road wins against Otter Creek as the 'A' team won 37-27 and the 'B' squad took a 29-26 decision over the Otters.

In the 'A' game, the Knights outscored the host squad 24-13 in the second half to pick up the victory as Daniel Kimball led the way with 12 points. Ethan Whitson tallied nine with Tyler Rector adding six. Nate Newton scored four, and Jim Mace, Connor Ganly and Mark Underwood each added two points.

In the 'B' game, Tanner Wilson and Bo Stewart both had six points followed by four apiece by Zach Moore and Kyle Moore. Jeremy Mafioli had three points, Jason Sampson, Colton Burgess and Austin Butts each had two points.

The seventh-grade team hosted the Otters with North Clay falling 36-28 in the 'A' game with Jacob Harden scoring 13 and Derek Mills adding 10. In the 'B' game, North Clay won 21-16 as Levi Brown had five points and Austin Russell contributed four.

The seventh-grade Knights are at Woodrow Wilson on Monday night at 5 p.m. while the eighth-grade plays Saturday at 9 a.m.
