Alpaca workshop is scheduled

White Violet Farm Alpacas, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, will host "Alpaca 101: Fundamentals of Alpaca Husbandry," from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The workshop is intended for those who are considering owning alpacas or those new to the business.

Topics for the workshop will include herd health issues, injections, feed, barns and sheds, pasture care, toenail care, developing goals, fiber, record keeping and nutrition.

In addition, those participating in the workshop will also have approximately 90 minutes of "hands-on" work in the afternoon

Cost to attend the event is $50 per person or $75 for two people from the same farm or family. The cost includes lunch.

The registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 17. Sign-in for the event will begin at 9:30 a.m., with coffee and rolls.
