Search warrant nets two arrests

Two Brazil residents were arrested Tuesday evening after a search warrant was served at a home on North Columbia Street.

Law enforcement investigators from the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section, with assistance from Putnamville District troopers, acted on community tips and other investigative information that lead to a search warrant for a residence at 605 North Columbia Street in Brazil.

During the search of the residence, approximately 4 grams of Methamphetamine; approximately 25 grams of Marijuana; 10 Vicodin pills; 9 Xanax pills, and $326 in currency was found and later seized by the officers.

Officials confirm Gary L. King II, 37, and Rebecca L. Pefley, 19, were taken into custody and booked into the Clay County Justice Center.

King was charged with dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, unlawful possession of hypodermic syringe, and maintaining a common nuisance.

Pefley was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and maintaining a common nuisance.

According to the ISP, under the law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
