Janice Sue (Klass) Harris, 82, passed away on May 28, 2024. She was born on January 14, 1942 in Brazil to Cleotis Klass and Martha (Fouts) Klass. Janice married Ron Harris on June 4, 1961. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before Ron died in November 2023. They were inseparable and made great memories while traveling and enjoying nature.

She is survived by her daughters Kelly (Harris) Bovenschen (Bobby) and Becky Harris (Paula), and brother Max Klass (Mary), grandsons Kyle Starkey and Cody Starkey (Sara), great-grandchildren Kenzie, Kyle Jr., Bryanna, Chloe, Myla, and Bennett; and a great-great-grandson Zayden. She was also an aunt to several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by both of her parents in addition to her husband Ron.

She graduated from Coal City High School Class of 1960. Janice retired from the US Department of Agriculture as a Farm Benefit Coordinator. She grew up on a farm in Coal City and enjoyed helping her parents and her brother farm the land and raise livestock. After marriage, her and Ron moved to Terre Haute to begin his barber career. They raised their 2 daughters and went on many trips including Hawaii, Alaska, National Parks, and many fishing trips to Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Canada. She also enjoyed hunting for mushrooms in the spring. She enjoyed many other activities including sewing (she made her own wedding dress), playing piano, teaching vacation bible school, growing vegetables, and preparing meals for her family. She also had many kitties through the years that loved to sit on her lap.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 11 am to 1 pm at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with a funeral service starting at 1 pm. Burial will be at Beech Cemetery in Coal City, IN.
