LORETTA ELENOR AMES formerly Brazil, IN

Loretta Elenor Ames, 90, of Lebanon, Indiana and formerly a long-time resident of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at Homewood Health Campus on June 8, 2024.

Loretta was born on March 17, 1934, in Geetingsville, Indiana, the daughter of William H. and Juanita (Stoops) Bolinger. She worked at Indiana unemployment agency in Terre Haute beginning her career at Putnamville Correctional Facility as a clerk.

Loretta was a member of the American Legion Post 2 Auxiliary and the VFW Post 1127 Auxiliary. In her younger years, she loved square dancing and ballroom dancing. More recently, she enjoyed reading, coloring, working jig-saw puzzles, and solving crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Bolinger and Juanita Bolinger Zook; her husband Virgil Ames; a son Gene Wethington; siblings William Caroll Bolinger Jr. and Christine Anderson and a sister-in-law Norma Pell.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law Cindy Wethington; grandchildren: Brandy Tormey (James), Caroll Eugene Wethington II, Joshua Sisk, and Jason Sisk; great-grandchildren: Jordan Nichole Norris, J.P. Phillip McGriff, James Fredrick Tormey, Joseph Sisk, Ellie Sisk, Everly Sisk, Madeline Sisk; 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will follow at the funeral home at 1:00 PM with burial to be held at Calcutta Cemetery.
