James Wilford Mayle, II, died on June 9, 2024, with his family surrounding him. He was born on December 23, 1948, to Harry Mayle, Sr. and Genevieve (Tucker) Mayle of Harmony. Jim had been under the care of Hospice for several weeks.

Jim graduated from Van Buren High School in 1966. He attended Indiana State University and graduated in 1970 with a BS in Industrial arts/mechanical engineering. He taught for a while in Plainfield. He remarried in 1982 to Wanda Keith. They each had children from a previous marriage. They were always very proud of their children and grand- and great-grandchildren.

After teaching, he then began a career as a manager with Electrolux until 1989. They later moved to Florida where he was sales manager for Daytona News Journal until retirement in 2015. They returned to Spencer, and in 2019 to Greencastle where he resided until his death.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Jonevieve Fletcher (Jim), Harriet Williams (Willard), and his brother Harry Mayle, Jr, (Juanita “Nita”).

Besides his wife, Wanda, he is survived by two sons, Jeff Mayle (Norma), Brent Mayle (Angela), and daughter Brenda Wagner (Todd), and his sister Esther Wilson (Terry). Also, as mentioned before, he had several grandchildren and great-grandchildren he loved and adored, and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. He did not want a service, but for others to remember him as he grew up and went to school and college. He loved hunting and fishing and has continued his love of animals and birds, especially cardinals. Please think of Jim as you remember him when you were around him.

The family requests that donations be made to: Intrepid USA Hospice, 2901 Ohio Blvd., Suite 210-2, Terre Haute, Indiana 47803 in Jim’s name.
