JUANITA MAE (HALL) MAYFIELD

Juanita Mae (Hall) Mayfield, 84, of Brazil, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2024, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Juanita was born on August 18, 1939, in Roachdale, Indiana, the daughter of John and Lavina (Morgan) Hall. She graduated from Clayton High School with the class of 1957. She worked as a paraprofessional at Inverness Middle School and South Putnam High School where she also worked as a teacher’s aide in the special education department. Much of her career was spent working for Goodwill where she began working as a volunteer and retired as the store manager. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed shopping, going to yard sales, and flea markets. She was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and Elvis fan. Above all, Juanita loved her family.

She married Bobbie Mayfield in 1967; he preceded her in death in 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son Ricky Ward; her daughter Carol Ann Mayfield; siblings: John Hall Jr., Jackie Dean Hall, Jo Ann Hoffa, Janet Karr, and Jeffrey Hall; great-grandson: John Robert Pasalich Jr.

She is survived by her children: Rhonda Todd (Rick), Rebecca “Becky” McKinney (Kyle), Randy Ward, Richelle Herr-Smith (Mike), Regina Dierckman (Louie), Debbie Clifford, Larry Mayfield (Patti), Peggy Hannum, and Bruce Ward (Cristina); daughter-in-law Lisa Ward; 31 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Jenny Buchanan (Bennie), Johnnie Dale Hall (Barbara), and Jerrie Sue Huffman as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will be held at the funeral home, on Tuesday, at 1:00 PM with burial to follow at Clayton Cemetery.
