PAULA ROSE (SCHOPMEYER) MONCE, Bowling Green, IN

Paula Rose (Schopmeyer) Monce, 72, of Bowling Green, Indiana, passed away on July 6, 2024, following a brief illness.

Paula was born on July 7, 1951, in Clay County, Indiana, the daughter of Paul and Rosalind (Hauser) Schopmeyer. She graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1969. She married Milton Monce Jr., on December 14, 1974.

Early in her marriage, Paula stayed home to raise her daughters Karrie and Amy. She was the epitome of a “stay at home mom”. She loved to cook, clean and garden. She loved her family dearly. Together they enjoyed traveling on numerous family adventures. She had been to 49 of the 50 states and they were planning on traveling to Alaska later this year. She especially enjoyed going for country drives and admiring nature.

Once her daughters began school, she began working at Clay City Elementary and High School. There she helped at recess and lunch. She also helped in the Special Education Classroom and Inclusion Classes. Later in her career, she worked in the library, retiring in 2011.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents: Paul and Rosalind Schopmeyer; granddaughter Madelyn Thompson.

Paula is survived by her husband Milton Monce Jr.; daughters Karrie Shotts and husband Byron and Amy Thompson and husband John; grandchildren: Vivienne Shotts, Vaughn Shotts, Henry Thompson, Melody Thompson, and Wyatt Thompson; a brother John Schopmeyer and wife Cheryl; nieces and nephews: Amanda Schopmeyer, Mitchel Schopmeyer, and Madison Schopmeyer.

Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will be at the funeral home, on Saturday, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Poland Zion Cemetery.
