Tucker tosses five innings in High-A debut

Tuesday, July 23, 2024

In his final start at the Low-A level, pitching for the Clearwater Threshers in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, former Northview standout Braydon Tucker threw six no-hit innings, which led to his promotion to the High-A Jersey Shore BlueClaws a couple of days before every team in Minor League Baseball went their separate ways for the All-Star break.

After spending a few days back at home, Tucker joined the BlueClaws in Brooklyn for a three-game series against the Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets.

Upon his arrival, Tucker was informed he would be getting the ball as Sunday’s starting pitcher in the series finale, which gave the hard-throwing right-hander a couple of days to get his bearings with the new surroundings.

Once Sunday arrived, Tucker had a two-run lead in hand before taking the mound for his High-A debut. He made that stand through five innings of work as the righty surrendered three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out six batters before giving way to the BlueClaw bullpen.

Tucker did not factor in the decision despite departing the game with his team in front. Jersey Shore went on to win by a score of 9-6 in 10 innings, and in doing so took two of three games from Brooklyn.

Jersey Shore opened a six-game set against the visiting Aberdeen IronBirds, the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. Tucker will be making his home debut whenever he takes the mound during the series.
