Robert G. Dayhuff, 92, of Plainfield, Indiana, on October 16, 2024.

Bob was born on February 22, 1932, in Coal City, Indiana, the son of Ernest C. and Lucille (Sinders) Dayhuff. He graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1951. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at Allison Transmission for a few years. Most of his career he worked as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service.

Bob enjoyed river fishing, squirrel hunting, mushroom hunting, going to yard sales, and spending time with his family.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Lucille Dayhuff; his sister Wanda L. Richardson; son-in-law Darrell Rotman; daughter-in-law Cheryl Dayhuff; granddaughter Mikayla Dayhuff; and dear friend Sylvia Phipps.

Survivors include his 4 children: Richard “Rick” Dayhuff and wife Emily, Donald Dayhuff and wife Tina, Carolyn Rotman, and Steve Dayhuff and wife Mikki; grandchildren: Sarah Daum (Matt), Amy Dayhuff, Amanda Skirvin, Melissa Skirvin (Ariel), David Skirvin, Cassandra Nichols (Josiah), Crystal Dayhuff, Colleen Dayhuff, Chantal Hutchens (David), Derrick Burnham (Kyla), Brett Burnham (Ashley), Tara Baker, Erica Stantz, Mark Dayhuff (Tracy), Michael Dayhuff (Ashley), and Matthew Dayhuff (Morgan Price); 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; a nephew David Richardson.

Visitation will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East Eighth St. Clay City, Indiana 47841, on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will follow at 1:00 PM with Josiah Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery.
