Senator Mike Braun visited Clay County on Wednesday, fulfilling his pledge to visit all 92 of Indiana’s counties.

Braun visited the Clay County Historical Society Museum, where Jeff Koehler, county historian, spoke about Clay County history and infamous natives Charles B. Hall, Ivan Fuqua, Orville Redenbacher, and Jimmy Hoffa.

Braun noted he didn’t know Redenbacher and Hoffa were from the area, saying, “That’s notoriety there.”

Braun said residents should be proud of the museum and thank whoever kept all the memorabilia and the history associated with it.

“You found a building that looked like it was built to be a museum; of course, it was a post office. That will be a treasure for generations to come.”

Braun thanked the community for sharing its history and took time out of his schedule to meet with local community leaders and officials.

The Clay County Historical Society Museum is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. Schedule a group tour today to learn Clay County’s rich history.
