On Monday evening, Northview softball standout Maggie Krause made her long-awaited announcement on where she would be furthering her career at the collegiate level.

The junior, who also visited Indiana, Oregon and Northwestern, wrote the following statement on various social media outlets, informing the public that she would be furthering her academic and athletic career at the University of Tennessee:

“Dream come true,” the statement read. “I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee. I can’t thank my family enough for the countless hours, money and support they have given me. Thank you to my dad who always catches me no matter the circumstances and always giving the best pep talks (don’t suck) before games. Thank you to my mom for always being my biggest supporter and being a shoulder to cry on. I want to thank coach Huecker, coach Scott, coach Vossmer, and coach Ashley for always pushing me and always believing in me. Thank you to my amazing teammates who are my best friends and push me to be the best version of myself no matter the circumstances. And finally, a huge thank you to coach Weekly, coach Craig, coach Stephanie and coach Megan for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I am so grateful to have this opportunity and am so excited to be a Lady Vol!”

Krause, who is the No. 34-ranked player in the country according to Perfect Game’s most recent Class of 2026 recruiting rankings, has shown why – both in the circle and in the batter’s box – the Volunteers want to bring her to Knoxville, and the stats back that up in every way.

In the circle, the hard-throwing left-hander has racked up 510 strikeouts while walking just 48 batters. She also owns a career 1.28 ERA that covers 263 innings. And at the plate, Krause has a career batting line of .379/.455/.790 to go along with 14 home runs, 13 doubles and four triples.

Krause becomes the first Northview softball player to commit to an SEC program and also joins Stacy Payton (Ball State and Charlotte), Maddy Richey (Indiana State) and Lauren Sackett (Indiana State) as Lady Knights to play under head coach Kathy Vossmer and then commit to programs at the Division-I level.
