COLLEGE REPORT: Chapman finishes second at Division III Pre-National meet

Former Northview standout Thomas Chapman has had numerous top notch performances at Terre Haute’s LaVern Gibson Championship Course throughout the duration of his cross country career.

And at Friday night’s Division III Pre-National Meet, he added to that.

The senior finished second overall – behind only Washington University’s Will Liu, who crossed the finish line just four seconds faster – with a time of 25:40.

Chapman will look to continue to add onto his list of achievements when the Pomeroys return to the course on Oct. 18 at the Angel Mounds Invitational hosted by Oakland City University.

Chapman was one of several former Clay City and Northview standouts to put together noteworthy performances recently. The others are below:

Kaylee Lowe (SMWC women’s soccer)

Kaylee Lowe and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women’s soccer team took on the University of Rio Grande recently. In the 4-0 loss, Lowe started and played 74 minutes. The senior midfielder recorded two shots and one shot on goal. Saint Mary’s owns a 1-6-2 record and visited Cumberland University on Wednesday.

Raelee Everhart (SMWC women’s soccer)

Raelee Everhart and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women’s soccer team took on the University of Rio Grande recently. In the 4-0 loss, Everhart started and played 56 minutes. Saint Mary’s owns a 1-6-2 record and visited Cumberland University on Wednesday.

Kambree James (SMWC women’s soccer)

Kambree James and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women’s soccer team took on the University of Rio Grande recently. James appeared in the 4-0 loss and played seven minutes. Saint Mary’s owns a 1-6-2 record and visited Cumberland University on Wednesday.

Kassidy Kellett (Lee University women’s soccer)

Kassidy Kellett and the Lee University women’s soccer team took on Spring Hill College and the University of West Florida recently. Kellett started both games and played an average of 44 minutes while recording one shot. Lee owns a 3-3-3 record and visits Trevecca Nazarene University on Friday.

Tori Schopmeyer (SMWC volleyball)

Tori Schopmeyer and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods volleyball team took on Defiance College in a doubleheader recently. Schopmeyer appeared in one of the two wins, playing four sets and recording eight kills and two digs. Saint Mary’s owns a 20-3 record and hosted Franklin College and the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis on Wednesday.

Audrey Lee (SMWC volleyball)

Audrey Lee and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods volleyball team took on Defiance College in a doubleheader recently. Lee appeared in both wins, playing eight sets and recording four aces. Saint Mary’s owns a 20-3 record and hosted Franklin College and the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis on Wednesday.

Kambree Lucas (EKU volleyball)

Kambree Lucas and the Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team recently took on North Alabama and Central Arkansas, marking the return for the redshirt senior outside hitter who missed multiple weeks with an achilles injury. Lucas played three sets in the pair of losses and recorded seven kills, two blocks and two digs. Eastern Kentucky owns a 10-7 record and visited Bellarmine on Wednesday.

Justin Hopkins (SMWC men’s golf)

Justin Hopkins and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods men’s golf team recently competed in the River States Conference Preview held at Glade Springs Resort. There, Hopkins fired respective rounds of 79 and 74 to give him a cumulative score of 153 to finish in 20th place. Saint Mary’s returned to the course on Monday and Tuesday at the Taylor Invitational in Ava, Michigan.

Benjamin Goshen (SMWC men’s golf)

Benjamin Goshen and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods men’s golf team recently competed in the River States Conference Preview held at Glade Springs Resort. There, Goshen fired respective rounds of 77 and 78 to give him a cumulative score of 155 to finish in 29th place. Saint Mary’s returned to the course on Monday and Tuesday at the Taylor Invitational in Ava, Michigan.

Chase Nuckols (SMWC men’s golf)

Chase Nuckols and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods men’s golf team recently competed in the River States Conference Preview held at Glade Springs Resort. There, Nuckols fired respective rounds of 80 and 78 to give him a cumulative score of 158 to finish in 39th place. Saint Mary’s returned to the course on Monday and Tuesday at the Taylor Invitational in Ava, Michigan.

Brevin Cooper (SMWC men’s golf)

Brevin Cooper and the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods men’s golf team recently competed in the River States Conference Preview held at Glade Springs Resort. There, Cooper fired respective rounds of 80 and 79 to give him a cumulative score of 159 to finish in 41st place. Saint Mary’s returned to the course on Monday and Tuesday at the Taylor Invitational in Ava, Michigan.

Halle Miller (ISU women’s cross country)

Halle Miller and the Indiana State University women’s cross country team took part in the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. There, Miller finished 42nd overall with a time of 18:06. Indiana State returns to the course on Oct. 18 at the Bradley Pink Classic.

Gnister Grant (ISU women’s cross country)

Gnister Grant and the Indiana State University women’s cross country team took part in the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. There, Grant finished 113th overall with a time of 19:08. Indiana State returns to the course on Oct. 18 at the Bradley Pink Classic.

Katie Morrison (IWU women’s cross country)

Katie Morrison and the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s cross country took part in the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri. There, Morrison finished 65th overall with a time of 23:06. Indiana Wesleyan returns to the course Friday at the Ray Bullock Invitational.

Jcim Grant (ISU men’s cross country)

Jcim Grant and the Indiana State University men’s cross country team took part in the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. There, Grant finished 84th overall with a time of 25:39. Indiana State returns to the course on Oct. 18 at the Bradley Pink Classic.

Nolan White (Purdue men’s cross country)

Nolan White and the Purdue University men’s cross country team took part in the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. There, White finished 93rd overall with a time of 24:00. Purdue returns to the course on Oct. 19 at the Wisconsin Pre-National race.
