A special anniversary.

At 10:54 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2023, Clay County 911 Dispatch Center received a call from Cloverleaf Health Center in Knightsville reporting a fire. First responders from multiple agencies, nursing home staff, and community members immediately sprung into action. All with one goal: to ensure the 71 residents and facility were safe.

Clay Community School Transportation Department, many family members of the residents, and community members offered to help, to name a few.

No injuries were reported to staff, residents, or volunteers, and the small ice machine fire was contained and extinguished at approximately 11:15 a.m.

To commemorate the unusual anniversary, Cloverleaf posted a video to social media showing the changes that can happen within a year and thanked everyone who was involved.

“While it was a terrible day, we are forever thankful that our residents were safe with no injuries,” the Facebook post read. “Without hesitation, the community dropped everything they were doing to assist us with evacuating, bringing food, and entertaining our residents at Hutson Wood. We are forever thankful to be in such a wonderful community!”

TRICK OR TREAT EVENT

Halloween is a special time at the facility, with many residents enjoying the children and adults dressed up for the holiday.

This year, the public is invited to bring your costumed little ones to the facility for some spooky fun on Tuesday, October 29th, from 5-7 p.m. Cloverleaf Healthcare facility, located at 9325 N.S. Crawford Street, Knightsville, is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat. The event is sponsored by Heart To Heart Hospice.
